Portsmouth & Southsea Snatch Dramatic Point in 6–6 Classic

Portsmouth & Southsea Futsal Club were involved in a thrilling 6–6 draw against Greenwich Futsal on Sunday 1st March in the National Futsal League Tier 3.1 South.

The Pompey Dons made a bright start and carried real attacking intent throughout the first half, edging into a deserved 3–2 lead at the break. The tempo remained high after the restart, with both sides trading goals in an end-to-end contest that kept supporters on edge until the final whistle.

Portsmouth’s goals came from a collective attacking display, with strikes shared between Kelvin Lipa, Geraint Melville, Liam Brewer and Aaron Tasker, alongside an own goal forced under pressure. Melville bagged a brace on the day, while the squad’s persistence and work rate ensured they remained within touching distance even when momentum swung Greenwich’s way.

With just four seconds left on the clock and trailing, Portsmouth produced a moment of late drama. A long throw from James Heels caused chaos in the opposition area, finding Tasker and resulting in a decisive own goal that sparked jubilant scenes and rescued a valuable point.

The draw keeps Portsmouth & Southsea second in the table, level on points with Newham. This Sunday 8th March, Pompey host Newham at Ravelin Sports Centre (3.20pm) in a first-ever meeting between the sides — a clash that will determine who tops the table.
