Portsmouth & Southsea Futsal Club kicked off their Tier 3.1 campaign in style with a hard-fought 8–5 away win against Maidenhead United B on Sunday 25th January.
In what proved to be a highly competitive and entertaining fixture, the Pompey Dons found themselves locked at 2–2 at half-time after an intense opening period, with both sides trading goals and chances. However, the second half belonged firmly to Portsmouth & Southsea, who showed their quality, depth, and attacking intent to pull away and secure all three points.
The goals came from a strong collective team performance, with Jeffrey Pinzon leading the way with two goals, while Geraint Melville, Sean Ikenye, Liam Brewer, Dennis Mason, Justin Gudzelak, and Guido Tossi all added their names to the scoresheet.
A major talking point of the match was the inclusion of three youth player call-ups: Jaden Partridge (GK), Guido Tossi, and Justin Gudzelak. All three made a huge impact on the game, underlining the strength of the club’s development pathway.
Goalkeeper Jaden Partridge delivered a confident and composed performance between the posts, while Guido Tossi and Justin Gudzelak both marked unforgettable milestones by scoring their first senior goals for the club in the second half — and in style. Their contributions were crucial in swinging the momentum firmly in Portsmouth & Southsea’s favour.
The victory represents the club’s first league win of the year and a perfect start to the new Tier 3.1 campaign. More importantly, it showcased exactly why youth development remains a core pillar of Portsmouth & Southsea Futsal Club’s long-term vision.
With continued investment into the next generation of futsal players, performances like this prove that the future of the Pompey Dons is in very safe hands.
