Pompey Dons Hit Six Past League Rivals Greenwich
Portsmouth & Southsea Futsal Club delivered one of their strongest performances of the season on Sunday, securing an emphatic 6-2 away victory over Greenwich Futsal in Tier 3.1 South of the National Futsal League.
The Pompey Dons showed intensity and composure throughout the contest, taking control early and never allowing Greenwich back into the match. By half-time, Portsmouth & Southsea had built an impressive 3-1 lead, rewarding a dominant opening period with clinical finishing and disciplined defending.
The second half saw Portsmouth & Southsea raise the tempo once again, adding three further goals to complete a convincing 6-2 triumph and continue their unbeaten historical record against Greenwich Futsal.
Goals came from across the squad in an excellent team display. Aaron Tasker and Geraint Melville both struck twice, while Dennis Mason also found the net. Greenwich added to their own misery with an unfortunate own goal as Portsmouth & Southsea piled on the pressure.
Attention now turns to what promises to be a huge fixture this Sunday, as the Pompey Dons travel to the capital once again to face league champions Newham Futsal.
With a play-off spot potentially on the line, Portsmouth & Southsea will be hoping to carry the momentum from Sunday’s outstanding performance into one of their biggest matches of the season. The next fixture for the Pompey Dons could potentially be the last of the season, however the club still keeps it’s high hopes.
