2025/26 End of Season Wrap Up
The 2025/26 season will go down as one of the most significant in the history of Portsmouth & Southsea Futsal Club, with major progress achieved both on and off the court across the senior and youth setup.
Senior Men Reach New Heights
The club’s senior men’s team produced their strongest campaign to date, showcasing remarkable growth, resilience, and quality throughout the season.
After winning the Southern Qualifiers group in impressive fashion, Portsmouth & Southsea carried that momentum into an outstanding Tier 3.1 South campaign, competing consistently against some of the strongest sides in the region. The team narrowly missed out on a playoff position, with a controversial three-point deduction ultimately proving decisive in denying them a deserved place in the postseason.
Despite the disappointment, the season represented a huge step forward for the club and highlighted the progress being made within the senior programme.
One of the standout stories of the year was the incredible emergence of Liam Brewer. In his very first season playing futsal, Brewer delivered a phenomenal return of 30 goals, quickly establishing himself as one of the league’s most dangerous attacking players and a key figure in the team’s success.
Growing the Future of Futsal
Away from the senior game, the club continued to make major strides in developing futsal across Hampshire through its expanding youth programme.
Throughout the 2025/26 season, Portsmouth & Southsea further strengthened its youth pathway, providing more opportunities for young players to develop and progress within the sport. A particularly important milestone was the continued introduction and growth of youth girls’ futsal within the programme, helping create a more inclusive and accessible pathway for players in the local community.
The club also played a leading role in growing competitive futsal opportunities across the county, successfully hosting more than six youth festivals during the season. These events brought together players, teams, and communities from across Hampshire, helping raise the profile of the sport while giving young athletes valuable match experience in a competitive environment.
Club director Azza Shakib reflected on the club’s progress:
“It has been a fantastic season, I am extremely proud of the progress we are making as a club to lay down the foundations of player development from youth to senior level, we have set the bar high and will continue to build from this going forward.
It has not been an easy journey at all, however we continue to do our part in expanding futsal and creating an environment for players to keep growing.”
With continued growth across all levels of the club, the future looks incredibly bright for Portsmouth & Southsea Futsal Club as they continue building one of the region’s most ambitious futsal programmes.
